Best advice anyone ever gave you: “Think global, act local” it is a great piece of advice for anyone living in the developed world who wants to have an impact on the developing world

Catherine currently works as a Children’s Occupational Therapist in the Belfast Trust. She attended school at Our Lady & St Patrick’s College, Knock and, after attending university in England, returned to live and work in Belfast.

After travelling to the Philippines in 2003 Catherine became involved in the setting up of the development charity, SERVE. Since 2003 SERVE has grown from strength to strength and has placed over 600 volunteers in seven countries and committed over £5 million to worthy development projects involving children and young people. In 2006 Catherine got married to her husband Chris and they moved to Zimbabwe with SERVE to spearhead a development programme working with young people who were most at risk from HIV and political oppression.

She also worked short term in Mozambique and South Africa. Since returning in 2008 Catherine has remained involved as a volunteer in numerous fundraising initiatives and was delighted when SERVE Belfast moved into their new offices in Botanic Avenue.

As well as her voluntary work with SERVE Catherine has recently signed up to the Líofa 2015 challenge and is a political activist in the New Lodge area of North Belfast.
