A SOUTH Belfast Open University graduate has managed to complete a degree, in between working full-time, and looking after her young child who was born right in the middle of exam season. Sara Gunn, who hails from the Ormeau Road, and works for arts organisation Audiences NI, received her BA Honours degree in Media Studies at last week’s graduation ceremony in Belfast’s Waterfront hall, where almost 200 proud graduates received their certificates.

Gun victim was taken from the house where his dad was murdered
The INLA were behind the shooting of a 28-year-old whose dad was murdered 16 years ago in the same street. At around 10.25pm on Tuesday night the victim received gunshot wounds to his legs and injuries to his head at Thames Court off the Falls Road after he was dragged from his home.
Dead son’s body part was retained
A WEST Belfast father has spoken of his “total devastation” after the Police Ombudsman’s Office informed his family that they still have a part of the body of his son who died ten years ago. As part of a recent Police Ombudsman internal audit, it was discovered that in a number of cases the next of kin of deceased persons had not been informed that body parts and samples had been taken and retained between 2001 and 2006.
Bloody Heroin kit was dumped in park
Parents are being urged to be vigilant after a bloody heroin kit was found next to a playground in the Falls Park. The drug paraphernalia – which included used needles, bloodied swabs and a metal spoon – was found behind the playpark on Tuesday morning by park rangers.
