Marian must be released now

RENEWED calls for the immediate release of West Belfast republican Marian Price have been made after local parties met with the Secretary of State and the Minister for Justice this week. A Sinn Féin delegation, including West Belfast MLA Jennifer McCann, met with Justice Minister David Ford on Monday when they called Ms Price’s continued imprisonment “an affront to natural justice”.

Paterson must act

SDLP leader Alasdair McDonnell is one hundred per cent right in his protestations to Secretary of State Owen Paterson in regard to the cases of Marian Price and Gerry McGeough. Those who suggest that because the SDLP man is diametrically opposed to the politics of both Ms Price and Mr McGeough he shouldn’t demand they be treated fairly don’t understand the very concept of justice being blind.

On Sunday, May 27 a march will take place on the Falls Road highlighting the continuing and unjust imprisonment of veteran republican Marian Price. The outcome of this march should not be dictated by those who have chosen to turn a blind eye, but rather by those who believe what is happening to Marian is totally wrong and therefore feel compelled to come out of their homes in support of her plight.

Price treatment ‘cruelty beyond cruelty’

A GROUP of former female republican prisoners have described the ongoing detention of West Belfast republican Marian Price as “cruelty beyond cruelty”. The Coiste na n-Iarchimí-led focus group was speaking to the Andersonstown News this week about its work to collate the first ever comprehensive database of female republican prisoners jailed in Ireland and the UK during the armed struggle. They said that Marian should be released immediately.

People urged to take to streets

LOCAL people been asked to come out and show their support for veteran West Belfast republican Marian Price this weekend at a special march and rally organised to highlight her plight. The rally comes as the 58-year-old’s health continues to deteriorate as she is held in isolation at Hydebank Women’s Prison despite having been granted bail on charges brought against her – a situation described by local republicans as internment.
