Man is charged with attempted murder

A 47-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and making threats to kill after a stabbing incident in Poleglass in September.A 34-year-old man sustained stab wounds to his arm in the incident, which took place in the Colinmill area on September 29.

A WEST Belfast family are appealing for help from the local community as they seek the truth about the savage killing of their brother during the 1970s at the hands of the British army.19-year-old James ‘Jimmy’ Bonner, a lorry driver from Iveagh Street, was shot by British soldiers on June 25, 1972, when the car he was driving failed to stop at a road- block on the Whiterock Road.

Now the North’s top 2 legal men are Westies

THE NI Attorney General has welcomed the appointment of another West Belfast man, Barra McGrory, as the new Director of Public Prosecutions, joining him in the top two legal positions in the North. John Larkin QC, who originally hails from Glenavy, but was educated at St Mary’s CBS on the Glen Road, currently holds the post of Attorney General, the Assembly’s chief legal advisor. On Monday, he appointed Andersonstown-based solicitor Barra McGrory QC to the role of the head of the PPS.

A GOOD Samaritan has come to the aid of Poleglass man Michael Bailey who had his vital mobility scooter destroyed by a devastating Halloween night fire.Last week the Andersonstown News reported how a stray firework ignited the outdoor shed where Michael kept his mobility scooter reducing it and the shed to a blackened shell.
