The current Hunky Dory’s North Belfast Dart League champions the CB Archers were given a stern work out by last season’s runners up McGrath’s Bar in the second round of fixtures.
Eddie Donnelly was making his debut for the home team and he got their first score on the board with a 100 checkout in a 20-darter for a 3-0 win over Finton Carson.
Kevin O’Reilly levelled for the Archers when he beat Micky Costello 3-0 before Gary O’Reilly edged the Archers in front with a 3-2 win over John Turley in a high scoring game.
Don Curry put McGrath’s back on even terms with a 3-1 win against Kevin Mezza. But the Archers were not to be denied and Paul McLean’s 17-darter clinched a 3-2 win over Billy Brooks to give the visitors a narrow 3-2 victory.

Frankie McGeogh got the ball rolling with a nice 3-0 win over Davy Begley Snr while Brian George whitewashed Kieran Adams including a 120 finish.
Jim Flanaghan was made to work for his 3-2 win when he faced John Rafferty followed by Keith Beale’s 3-1 beating of Davy Begley Jnr including a 17-darter. Martin Corbett rounded off the 5-0 rout when he defeated Mick O’Reilly 3-1.
A come from behind win gave the Hole in the Wall their first points of the season when they beat St Malachy’s Old Boys 3-2. Ciaran Smith’s outshots of 99 and 71 helped him to a 3-1 win over Eoin Matthews, who hit a 97 finish.
John McKee made the score 1-1 when he beat Stevie Flood but John Doyle regained the lead for St Malachy’s after he won 3-1 against Malachai Shannon.
However, the boys from Baltic Avenue picked up the pace and 3-0 wins for Peter McCormick and Fiontan Mulgrew over Peter McAlorum and Mick Bonner sealed the match.
The St Malachy’s Lancers were put to the sword by the Phoenix Flames in a one-sided affair. Ray Grant blanked Mal Proctor 3-0 and Ciaran McAlorum beat John Hastings 3-1 before Stevie McGuigan gave the Lancers a ray of hope with a 3-0 success against Vincey Donaldson.
But the comeback ended when Dee Smyth won 3-0 and Stephen Donaldson beat Christie Benson, also 3-0, including a good 68 finish.
The Ligoniel Working Men’s Club are fast becoming the team to beat in the Trophy Room League 2.
After last week’s debut win the Ligoniel side upped the ante against the Library Bar ‘B’ romping to a 5-0 win. First to the oche was Seamus Madden who included an 87 finish on the way to a 3-0 win against Joe McLaughlin.
Kevin Morrow doled out similar punishment to Gary O’Connor and John Dillon made it a hat-trick of whitewashes, beating Gerard Keenan including a sound 94 finish.
Peter McAleese kept up the momentum, also winning 3-0 and Paul Wasson capped a perfect night for the Working Men’s Club, winning 3-0 against Danny Dunlop.
The 180 club has a new member in Catriona Walker who hit her very first maximum in a stunning 3-0 win over Aaron McGovern when the St Malachy’s Amazons took on the Phoenix Bar.
The Amazons were already 2-0 behind thanks to wins for John Madden and Micky Grangle over Margaret Hastings and Noeleen McGuigan before ‘Cat’ filled the treble twenty bed.
Sharon Bannon then thumped Eamon McGovern 3-0 to put the match on a knife edge. Unfortunately Derbuil McAlinden came up short in the deciding game and she lost to John Campbell to give the Phoenix a slender 3-2 win.
In a room across the hall from the Amazons’ match the Shamrock Celtic ‘B’ were facing off against the St Malachy’s Zulus.
Brian McKinney put the Celtic 1-0 up when he overcame Mark McAlinden 3-1. Henry Carson then let a 2-0 lead slip and he went down 3-2 to Marty McDonald.
Sean Montgomery regained the lead for the Shamrock when he beat Paul Cummings 3-1 and the points went to the Ardoyne side after Gerry Britton held off Mick Keenan to win 3-1.
Marty Bannon finished the night with a good 3-0 win over Darren Corbett for a final score of 3-2 to the Shamrock.
The Village Tavern made the trip into town to play the Library Bar ‘A’ but went home empty handed.
Mark McAuley opened up the scoring for the Tavern with a fine 3-1 win over John Sherry only to have his good work undone when Sas McDaid beat John McDonald.
Mark McVeagh put the Library Bar 2-1 ahead with a 3-1 win over Richard Faulkner followed by Peter Faloon ending the match as a competition with a fine 71 finish in a 21-darter for a 3-1 win over Jimmy Lagan.
Dee Graham pulled one back for the Tavern when he defeated Squid McDade 3-2 but it was too little, too late.
