St Patrick’s started their league campaign with a good win over Ballysillan.

St Pat’s started the match with a few slight nerves but it was not long before they took the lead with a 30-yarder from P Hanvey, which was quickly followed by a smashing free-kick from J O’Neill. Half-time: 2-0.

The second half began with St Pat’s stepping up the pace of the game with P Toolan in nets and the back line of captain B McConnell, L Brown and K Smyth keeping Ballysillan at bay. St Pat’s then went looking for their third and up stepped D McGuigan with a belter from 30 yards to open his account.

Floodgates

Then the floodgates opened and C O’Hanlan fired in a very quick hat-trick to score his first goals for St Pat’s.

Strike partner D Dobbin also opened his account.

J Reid, P Hanvey, J O’Neill, J Dillon and D McGuigan controlled the game with J O’Neill and P Hanvey chipping in with another goal each to put the game beyond Ballysillan.

C Hamilton came on as a substitute and banged in two quick goals while C Bean, K Toner, M Moyes and M Smyth all came on to keep the game at a good pace. Man of the match: J O’Neill.
