A fundraising night will take place in a North Belfast bar next month in memory of a local father who took his own life recently.

Cliftonville father of two Michael McCartan passed away on Wednesday August 10. The popular and well-known DJ’s death stunned the local community. In order to remember and celebrate his life a charity night has been arranged in McGrath’s Bar.

Barman in the pub Patrick Hutchinson is organising the event and said Michael’s many friends want to show their support for the McCartan family.

“Micky’s death shocked everyone, he left us all heartbroken,” he said.

“He was so well thought of by all his colleagues and friends and we want to remember him on the night. All his many friends are invited to come along.”

The charity night will include a disco and a number of acts that are to be confirmed. At 12pm Chinese lanterns will be released into the sky in memory of the fun loving local man. The event will be held on Saturday September 10 from 8pm until late. Tickets available from McGrath’s Bar priced at £5.
