REPUBLICANS across Belfast are set to remember their dead this weekend with a series of Easter commemorations. The Andersonstown Commemoration Committee will hold a special republican exhibition in the Andersonstown Social Club from noon to 6pm on Easter Saturday. A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the memorial garden at the side of the club from 5pm and Sinn Féin Councillor Emma Groves will address those assembled.

Those wishing to attend the main National Graves Association annual Easter parade should assemble at Beechmount Memorial Wall on Easter Sunday leaving for Milltown Cemetery at 1.30pm sharp.

Sinn Féin National Chairman Declan Kearney will be guest speaker at the event. In his speech he will be addressing the priorities of republican unity and national reconciliation in the context of “current republican strategy”.

Before the parade a wreath-laying ceremony will also take place on Easter Sunday at B Company, A Company, E Company and at the Kieran Doherty monument at 11am on Easter Sunday.

The Falls Cultural Society’s D Company will hold their annual Easter Commemoration on Easter Sunday and have asked those who wish to attend to assemble at Barrack Street Parade at 11.30am. The parade will leave at noon sharp to parade to the Garden of Remembrance.

An Easter Commemoration will be held at Clonard Martyrs Memorial Garden, Bombay Street, on Easter Sunday (April 8) at noon.

The wreath-laying ceremony will  honour the patriot dead from the Clonard area. The commemoration will take place prior to the main Easter parade which will leave the Beechmount Memorial Wall at 1.30pm sharp later on that day.

Milltown

Republican Sinn Féin will gather at the gates of Milltown Cemetery at 11.30am on Sunday before making their way to the Tom Williams plot at noon sharp for their commemoration.

The Republican Socialist Movement will hold their Easter Rising Commemoration on Sunday. It will begin at 11am at Dunville Park and will leave for the Republican Socialist Plot at Milltown Cemetery at 11.30am sharp.

The Workers’ Party will be assembling at Beechmount Parade at 2.30pm on Easter Sunday.  The parade to Milltown Cemetery commences at 3pm and the oration will be delivered by Workers' Party President Michael Finnegan.

On Monday, the Official Republican Movement will hold its Easter commemoration. Attendees should assemble at Milltown car park at noon. Chairman of the ORM, Pat John Kelly, will be the main speaker at the commemoration.

éirigí’s commemoration will also take place on Easter Monday. The socialist party will assemble at the front gates of Milltown Cemetery for departure for the graveyard’s Republican Plot at 1pm. The main speaker will be éirígí national chairperson Brian Leeson.
