U15 NIBFA Cup quarter-final

The Roses welcomed Culmore FC from the Derry & District League for this quarter-final in the NIBFA Cup.

The Roses started well and quickly stamped their authority on the game with an early goal when Noble–Walker hit a long ball forward for Neeson to chase.

He rounded the keeper before slotting the ball home.

The second goal came midway through the first half when the Roses had a corner.

The ball dropped to Campbell on the edge of the box and he hit a wonder strike with his left foot into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. The half time whistle blew with the Roses 2-0 up.

The second half started with the Roses piling the pressure on.

Guerin had a quiet game mainly because his defence in front of him, Noble-Walker, Reilly, Kelly and Smyth, were solid in their tackles and passing of the ball.

The midfield of McDonnell, Campbell, Curran, Dornan and Blaney worked really hard.  Up front Neeson worked tirelessly on his own. Gordon, Branniff, Donaghy and McLaughlin all had good games when they were introduced.

The third goal came ten minutes into the second half when Dornan went on a run down the right before passing the ball to Branniff. He then fed Neeson who freed Dornan and he blasted in from close range.

The fourth goal came when Campbell passed to Dornan who cut through the defence and chipped the keeper only for the ball to be cleared off the line. The ball dropped to Curran who caught it sweet on the volley and put it into the back of the net.

This was a great result for the Roses who now play Cliftonville in the semi-final.
