The deaths of three young people from across Belfast at the weekend are not being treated as suspicious according to the PSNI.

However, police are to hold a press conference to address the fatalities after widespread concern from the public.

The deaths of two people in West Belfast and one in South Belfast are currently under investigation but despite speculation on social media no cause will be able to be established until post mortems have been carried out which may take weeks.

The man found dead in the Riverdale area has been named locally as Christopher Lavery who was in his thirties and from the Lagmore area.

The second body was found in the Springfield Road area with the third body found in the Utility Street area off the Donegall Road.

A PSNI spokesman confirmed they were investigating the deaths.

“Police received a report of the deaths of two males in west Belfast and one male in south Belfast. Police are not investigating a link between these deaths.

“Post mortem examinations will take place to determine the cause, however they are not being treated as suspicious at this time.”
