RNU deny erecting flags in village

The Republican Network for Unity (RNU) has dismissed claims they were behind the erection of republican flags in Glengormley over the Easter period. A spokesman for RNU said they have no knowledge of, and did not give permission to any member, to erect tricolours or the starry plough on lampposts on the Antrim Road and O’Neill Road in Glengormley.

Last time I was in Glengormley’s St Enda’s GAC, Seán Fox was on the committee and we were discussing setting up an Irish class for members. That was in 1983. Seán, a solid patriot, was murdered in his home by loyalists in 1993, just months before the ceasefires.

Group’s call for new members

A Glengormley group set up just over a year ago in an effort to bring community cohesion to the area are appealing for new members to help their growing community building initiatives. Grief and relief as Joby is finally laid to rest

The family and friends of Joby Murphy lined the streets of North Belfast in their hundreds this morning (Thursday) to say their final goodbyes to the 20-year-old who died after falling into the River Lagan last month. The Glengormley man’s body was recovered on Saturday past, over a month after he had fallen into the river after a night out at the Odyssey complex.
