Family’s fight for justice moves on

The family of a North Belfast man murdered by the British Army more than 40 years ago said they hope the truth will finally be exposed after the Attorney-General agreed to reopen the inquest into his death. After more than four decades fighting to clear his name the family of Ardoyne man Barney Watts received notice recently the Attorney General will reopen the inquest into his murder and re-examine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Joby fund nearing target

The family and friends of a North Belfast man who died after falling in to the River Lagan in January after a night out are nearing their target of raising £40,000 to buy sonar equipment for a community rescue team after a series of fundraisers over the last month.

CIRA MURDER SUSPECT SLASHES MAN IN BAR

One of the chief suspects in the double murder of two men in Belfast five years ago has slashed a County Louth businessman in a bar in Dundalk. The man, from the Ardoyne area of North Belfast, fled to Dundalk following the double murder of Belfast men Eddie Burns and Joe Jones in Belfast on March 12 2007.

Alarm as spies are linked with killer

The families of two men brutally murdered five years ago in Belfast say they are alarmed at reports surfacing this week that indicate British Intelligence services may be protecting the murderers. Uni exclusion zone could avoid a Holyland scenario

There have been calls for the University of Ulster to draw a student housing exclusion zone around residential areas of inner city North Belfast to prevent the area becoming another Holyland. The university is moving its Jordanstown campus to a £250 million campus at York Street which will house 15,000 full and part-time students and staff.
