AN ambitious attempt to set the Irish record for the largest firewalk in one event is being supported by your local paper in conjunction with PIPS Programmes.
The North Belfast News is backing the leading suicide charity’s second firewalk after the huge success of its inaugural event last year.
And we are looking for at least 150 brave ‘soles’ to walk on hot coals for the life-saving cause.
The second annual Feet of Flames Firewalk will take place at our Belfast Media Group headquarters at the Andersonstown News offices on Hannahstown Hill on Thursday, October 20.
We want to break the Irish record for people firewalking so need the 150 volunteers to sign up as soon as possible.
Jennifer McGeown from PIPS encouraged everyone to get involved in the unique event.
“It’s the ultimate challenge in courage and determination because it teaches you to get to the other side much the same as positive thinking. Only this time, you’ve got to walk across burning coals!
“We at PIPS who completed the challenge last year enjoyed an experience which was very empowering and one that we’ll never forget.”
Training for the event will take place at our Andersonstown offices before the event on Thursday, October 20.
To take part all you need to do is apply for a PIPS firewalk pack. All information and health and safety conditions will be included as well as a contract to sign up to do the fire walk. Once PIPS receive your signed contract they will send you a sponsor form to start raising the funds.
“A minimum of £100 of fundraising is what we are kindly asking participants to try their utmost to achieve.
“This event is not to be missed and we really hope to hear from you,” said Jennifer.

Signed forms need to be returned to Pips Programmes, Unit 34 North City Business Centre, 2 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast, as soon as possible. Sponsorship sheets will be sent within 3 working days.
